Hey Torchlight II, Take Your Time, We’ll Wait for You
Delayed indefinitely, that's the bad news totally you Torchlight II fans who, like me, would rather looseness this than Blizzard's upcoming Diablo III (if I had to picking incomparable, that is). The good word: The gage we'll at length see, probably sometime early next year, should be the game Grapheme actually wants it to be, and if IT winds up kicking cloven-leg it-to-cloven-hoof with Diablo III, so be it.
"So… where is Torchlight 2? Didn't you guys say that you were planning to endeavour to sackin this year?" wrote Runic developer Travis Baldree in a candid note on the Torchlight II website yesterday.
"Well, yea. We did – and we made a good hunt at that," he says. "We've follow to the realization, however, that getting a game of this scope up to the quality and polish level we want to achieve is going away to take a little thirster; especially since we want to run a small beta in front exit to ensure that our launch is smooth."
Baldree recalls that the low game "was free in record time," but admits it had issues "that a little more development could have resolved." He says that while the company didn't have the resources and then to fix those issues prior to Torchlight's release, they make now.
Total sentence for Torchlight II's ontogenesis up to now: 18 months. Unconditional time remaining? Baldree doesn't say, only he does claim "the amount of clock time we need to take it the reside of the way is relatively small."
"Besides," he says, "you're all playing Skyrim far-right now anyway, aren't you? Or Battlefield 3? Or Unknown 3? Or Saints Row 3? Or Arkham City? Or Skyward Brand? Operating theatre Minecraft? Operating room Modern Warfare 3? Surgery Dark Souls? Oregon Assassin's Creed Revelations? Those are awesome games. When Torchlight 2 goes live, we want it to cost awful too – all the way through with."
We do too, Travis. We do, too.
